Cheese And Wine Shoplifting Caution For TV Chef

TV chef Antony Worrall Thompson has been arrested for shoplifting from a Tesco store, taking cheese and wine.

The Ready Steady Cook celeb was cautioned by police in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, last week.

Worrall Thompson, 60, apparently went through the self-checkout section but put several products into bags without scanning them.

He was filmed by suspicious store workers on five occasions, according to The Sun.

Thames Valley Police said officers “arrested a 60-year-old man from High Wycombe following a report of shoplifting offences in Tesco, Reading Road, Henley-on-Thames”.

A statement added: “The man has been issued with a formal caution for these offences.”

In 2009, Worrall Thompson was forced to close a number of his restaurants after his business fell into administration.

At the time he launched an attack on Britain’s banks for failing to help him out.

:: Cheese was the most stolen food item across the world in the 12 months to last October, according to a report.

As the global economic woes began to bite, the Centre for Retail Research found food products were among the most targeted products to pilfer – with cheese topping the list.
